After marriage, it is assumed that both partners will indulge in sexual intercourse. This can happen within a short period of time according to the customs and practices of the community.
However, we do see newly married couples reporting that no sexual intercourse has happened after marriage. Couples come for consultation anywhere between 2 days to 1yr.
Whenever the marriage is not consummated within 10 days of marriage this should be taken as a serious issue and an Andrology centre should be contacted. The reasons for non consummation of marriage are manifold. It could be a man’s problem or a woman’s problem or both partners may have problems. Timely advice can avoid social problems and keep the marriage alive.
